Coniferous Forests

A coniferous forest is a forest made up of evergreen trees that produce cones and have needle-like leaves. The word "conifer" comes from the fact that these trees produce cones that contain seeds. Coniferous forests are made up of trees like pines, spruces, firs and larches. The floor of a coniferous forest will be covered with mosses, liverworts and lichens. They grow best in cold, snowy regions with short summers, but they can also be found in warmer climates.
