Ramadan 4 - Imsaak

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا يعني في السحور وَلَا يَهِيدَنَّكُمْ السَّاطِعُ الْمُصْعِدُ وَكُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا حَتَّى يَعْتَرِضَ لَكُمْ الْأَحْمَرُ

“Eat and drink in the pre-fasting meal and let not the ascending light stop you. Eat and drink until you see redness on the horizon.” 

[Sunan at-Tirmidhi 705]

Imam at-Tirmidhi said, “The people of knowledge acted upon this tradition, that they would not forbid a fasting person from eating or drinking until the red dawn was present.”
